Dynamo LED Displays supplied a big TV on hire for the launch of the Fiit x WIT Fitness collaboration at the WIT gym in One New Change, St Paul’s, London. The screen came from Dynamo’s 2mm LED rental stock, with an LED banner beneath it, LED neon tubes around the room and a sound system fed by the Fiit DJ.

The brief: bring the app into a real gym
Fiit streams instructor-led classes to its subscribers at home, with a live leaderboard that ranks everyone taking part. For the launch of its collaboration with WIT Fitness the brand wanted the same experience on a gym floor: a class led by its instructors and DJs, with the workout, the timer and the leaderboard large enough for a room full of people on bikes and mats to follow. That meant a big TV on hire rather than a bank of gym monitors, so Fiit came back to Dynamo for LED screen hire.
What Dynamo supplied
A 2mm LED big TV from the rental stock
The main screen was built from Dynamo’s 2mm rental panels, which use chip-on-board X-Res LEDs for higher contrast and a sharper, more colourful picture than conventional surface-mount rental panels. At 2mm the leaderboard figures and the instructor’s cue text stay readable from the back of the room, and the dark background of the class graphics stays black rather than grey under the gym’s lighting.

An LED banner, LED tubes and sound
Below the main screen a narrower LED banner carried the Fiit logo and the partners’ branding, so the big screen could stay on the class content. Vertical LED neon-style tubes were set around the room to give the floor the look of a night-time studio rather than a daytime gym, and a sound system was connected to the Fiit DJ so the music, the instructor and the screen ran as one show.
The second Fiit project after the studio backdrop
In February 2020 Dynamo installed a 2.5mm LED screen measuring 4.8 m × 2.8 m in the Fiit London studio, where it works as the backdrop behind instructors while classes are streamed live to subscribers. That fixed installation is why Fiit asked Dynamo to handle the hire for the WIT launch: the same supplier, the same picture quality, but for one event instead of a permanent studio.
Current Dynamo options for a big TV hire
Dynamo’s event hire stock is the DRE Series, a 496 × 496 mm indoor and outdoor rental cabinet that builds into any size of screen from a single panel to a full stage backdrop. The figures below are from the DRE Series datasheet; no prices are given here. For what is included in a hire and how rigging and power are handled, see event rental LED display panels and LED screen hire power requirements.
| Model | Pixel pitch | Cabinet | Pixels per cabinet | Brightness (indoor) | Suited to |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| DRE P1.55 | 1.55mm | 496 × 496 mm, 9.2 kg | 320 × 320 px | Over 800 nits | Close viewing, small type, product launches |
| DRE P1.93 | 1.93mm | 496 × 496 mm, 9.2 kg | 256 × 256 px | Over 800 nits | Gym floors, studios and conference screens read from 2 m |
| DRE P2.58 | 2.58mm | 496 × 496 mm, 9.2 kg | 192 × 192 px | Over 800 nits | Larger event screens read from 3 m or more |

Big TV hire: frequently asked questions
What is a big TV hire?
A big TV hire is a short-term rental of a large LED screen built from rental cabinets, delivered, assembled and taken away by the supplier. Unlike a consumer television it has no size limit: the panels tile together to whatever width and height the room needs, and the picture is bright enough to read under event lighting. The Fiit x WIT launch used a 2mm screen around 4 m wide.
What pixel pitch does a gym or studio screen need?
Choose the pitch from the closest viewing distance. People on mats a couple of metres from the screen need 1.5mm to 2mm so the leaderboard figures and cue text stay sharp; a screen read from the far side of a large gym floor can use 2.5mm. Dynamo’s rental stock covers 1.55mm to 2.58mm indoors.
Can a hired LED screen show a live class feed?
Yes. The screen takes a standard HDMI or SDI feed from a laptop, a media server or a camera switcher, so a live class with its timer and leaderboard can be shown exactly as the app presents it. Dynamo supplies the processor and a technician on the build, and the content team only needs to bring the output they already use.
How long does a big TV hire take to set up?
A ground-stacked or wall-mounted screen of a few metres is typically built, cabled and tested within a few hours on the day before or the morning of the event, and taken down in less time afterwards. Access, power and the rigging method set the schedule, so Dynamo surveys the venue or works from drawings before the crew arrives.
Does the hire include sound and lighting?
It can. At the Fiit x WIT launch Dynamo supplied the LED screen, an LED banner, LED neon-style tubes and a sound system fed by the DJ as one package. For events that need more, Dynamo works alongside the client’s production company and provides the screen, the processing and the technician.
